First, we want to wish everyone a very happy, and above all, healthy New Year for 2022!
RPNA is also pleased to let all of its friends, colleagues, and clients know that Nicholas Roxborough was recently elected to be the 2022 Chair of the COIN Advisory Board.
As you may already know, the COIN Advisory Board is the California Organized Investment Network (COIN) established in 1996 as a collaborative effort between the insurance industry, the Commissioner, the Legislature, and advocates for investment in low income communities. COIN’s mission is to match entrepreneurs, non-profit groups, and local governments, either directly or through intermediaries, in low income and rural communities with insurance industry investment capital. The COIN Advisory Board advises the Department on the best methods and practices in regard to:
- Increasing the level of insurance industry capital in safe and sound investments while providing fair returns to investors and social benefits to underserved communities;
- Facilitating networking among executives in the insurance industry and community organizations seeking investments; and
- Recommending programmatic guidelines to the COIN program.
Nicholas was originally appointed to the COIN Advisory Board in 2013 by then-Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones, and then again reappointed by the current Insurance Commissioner, Ricardo Lara. When asked what he hopes to accomplish for COIN in 2022, Nicholas was quick to respond and note: “To continue the fine work and growth by prior Chairs in terms of further developing and expanding incentives for Insurers to invest in socially responsible housing, and in low income and rural communities. I am indeed extremely humbled to have the support of my colleagues from this Board. This Board is extraordinary and is without a doubt, the finest and most diverse Board that I have been a part of these last 7-8 years while at COIN. To now serve as its Chair is an absolute honor, privilege, and pleasure”.
RPNA congratulates Nicholas on this exceptional honor.
