For over 25 years, Joseph L. Romero has practiced in commercial litigation, business litigation, real estate litigation, complex litigation, municipal liability, construction law, contracts, real estate transactions and corporate governance. Joseph has conducted personally over 25 Jury Trials and Arbitrations all in the context of complex litigation issues.
Joseph’s skill set combines trial and transactional practices— providing clients with value in high-stakes litigation environments.
Joseph moved to California to be closer to family and continues to practice in similar areas of complex litigation and trial work. When not practicing law, Joseph is an avid hiker and reads extensively on the topic of military history
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
- Served as corporate counsel to one of New Mexico’s largest ranches during a protracted shareholder dispute, including discharge of statutory duties involving inspection of corporation records, in-house corporate investigations and shareholder succession 
- Settled subrogation lawsuit involving a six-figure loss on eve of trial for CenturyLink 
- Obtained a favorable New Mexico Court of Appeals decision in the case of Monribot v. Firstenberg. The case involved an individual suing his next door neighbor for using electronic devices, which he claimed aggravated his alleged Electro-Magnetic Sensitivity Disorder. Firstenberg continues to be the seminal case for toxic torts in New Mexico. This case was widely reported in the national press, including The New York Times.

Featured Speaker in 20 Continuing Legal Education (“CLE”) classes on such topics as rules of evidence, expert witness testimony, work product doctrine, opening and closing statements, direct and cross examination, jury instructions, business torts, § 1983 actions police misconduct actions, whistleblower suits and professional responsibility.
